MOBILITY ASSESSMENTS AND EQUIPMENT
Proper, fitted equipment is necessary for the reduction of pain, prevention and healing of skin ulcers and the increase in ability for a resident to be independently mobile.
The Ministry of Health offers a rate reduction for the purchase of a new mobility aid under the Assistive Devices Program. In order to apply for funding assistance for the purchase of a wheelchair or walker, a referral to a qualified authorizer must be made who will personally assess your mobility needs. The Rehabilitation Therapist is available to coordinate the assessment and purchase of mobility equipment on your behalf. There is a cost for this assessment.
